Lighten Up!

True Story…

A few months ago, I started reading a book by Lorna Byrne entitled “Angels in My Hair”. Lorna has seen and communicated with angels since she was a baby. In her book, she shares her experiences with the angels, unusual things that were revealed to her, and things she has learned from the angels.

It is an eye-opening book and I love eye-opening books!

One of the things she talked about repeatedly was that the angels were always trying to get her and others to NOT TAKE THINGS SO SERIOUSLY! The angels would joke and pantomime people taking things too seriously and instead emphasize laughter and joy and happiness.

Many years ago, I attended a Tom Kenyon event where he brought forth each of the archangels and they sang through him. While I didn’t exactly see angels in white with wings there, I did have one funny experience.

When one of the archangels was singing through Tom, I saw, in my mind’s eye, something very unexpected. I had a journal full of “very serious stuff” (like a private diary) on the floor underneath my chair full of all manner of dreams, attempts at understanding, fears, worries, musings, bitching, moaning, complaining, etc.

Suddenly an angel appeared and was on the floor there beneath my seat reading MY VERY PRIVATE JOURNAL! I didn’t let ANYONE read my journal and now an angel is sitting on the floor beneath my chair engrossed in reading it!

After reading it a bit, the angel looks at me with an impish smile and says, “There’s some good stuff in here!” then laughs a big laugh, smiles at me with a detached yet loving smile and swiftly disappears.

To this day, that remains my only real encounter with an angel. And reading about Lorna’s repeated encounters with FUNNY angels who would always lovingly and playfully admonish her to “lighten up” is a good reminder for me.
