A Glimpse of More

I am out in a remote desert area that looks a lot like the surface of the moon. There is no vegetation that I can see. Just rock and dirt and dust on a hazy gray day.

Except next to me on my right is a small lake. I walk alongside the lake, and even the lake itself appears as lifeless as this dry and drab desert that surrounds me.

It’s lonely out here in this vast emptiness. But I like this kind of vast empty loneliness.

As I am walking along the edge of the lake, I suddenly see a man off to my right side. He appears to me as an old man, well-dressed and dignified with perfectly cut thick gray hair and a perfectly trimmed gray beard. He has bushy gray eyebrows and a strong jawline and chin. He is dressed very regally and looks like a wise old soul.

But then I realize he is a ghost.

He is walking alongside me on my right side, parallel to me but about 10 feet out from shore in the lake. He is waist deep in the water, so I only see him from the waist up. As he walks alongside me, he makes no ripples in the water.

Up ahead I see an old white building with faded flaking paint and old warped siding. My ghostly partner walking alongside me in the lake tells me, without words, to go inside.

It is still early morning, and the hazy flat gray morning reveals very little light. I walk in the front door and meet a young man – who looks to be in his teens or twenties. He greets me as if he were expecting me. He takes me down a long and dark hallway.

I realize that this young man is a ghost too, but out of respect, I don’t call him a ghost. I ask him if he is a “discarnate spirit”, and he silently answers “yes”.

Feelings of fear well up in me but I’m determined not to let the fear get to me and instead I endeavor to stay open to the experience.

My ghostly young guide takes me on a tour of the house.

I meet lots of other “discarnate spirits” who live here. They all look like people, and all have their own distinct and unique personalities.

Some here look and act a bit like they are crazy. Some older blond women have a room that they share that is decorated like a little girl’s doll house.

I look around with a chuckle and think to myself that the inhabitants of this house remind me of the movie “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. I also feel like I have walked into an episode of The Ghost Whisperer!

I enter what looks like a large banquet room and see lots of people seated at the tables.

Strangely, I notice that while most of the people here are “ghosts” (discarnate spirits) that there are also regular “embodied” people here as well.

I realize it’s hard for me to tell the “ghosts” from the “real” people!

A truck pulls up out front and a real embodied delivery person comes through the door with a delivery of food stacked on a hand truck. He has been here before and knows the house is full of ghosts. He does not see them but is aware of their presence.

After he delivers his food, the driver goes to take a seat at one of the banquet tables, but suddenly exclaims to one of the ghosts “Steven? Are you here? Are you in my seat again?”

I am off in a corner marveling at all of this and feeling blessed and elated and excited to be here witnessing all of this. I am laughing with tears of great love and joy.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Today I remember to give thanks and express gratitude for those rare moments when the veils part and I can see with a greater perceptual range. The “glimpses of more” are often unpredictable and fleeting and seem to have a timing of their own. I accept this.
